MAKEwithMOTO was a design research tour and power user pilot for Project Ara, a highly customizable modular smartphone from Advanced Technologies and Projects at Google.  We took a standard utility van, cut a hole in the side, and stuffed it full of 3D printers, laser cutters, micro-controllers and hackable phones.  We traveled to twelve universities and five Maker Faires, holding hardware focused MAKEaTHONS.  As Chief Designer and Fabricator for the tour, I was responsible for directing the creation and refinement of concepts as well as the design and fabrication of first functional prototypes.
